McCain campaign *started* looking at Sarah Palin on Aug 17th. By Aug 24th after getting news of Biden selection, they dropped Gov. Pawlenty (see his graph http://tinyurl.com/Pawlenty ) decided to take advantage of Clinton backers and heightened their efforts. See the nice Google insight graph.
